Yoke messenger is a cross-platform mobile messenger that works as long as you have internet connection. Sent and received messages use the same internet data plan as your device so there is no extra cost to the user.
Yoke messenger does not automatically add contacts from your phonebook to your list of friends. You have to invite friends yourself, or be invited by them.
You need to click the button (the second one from the right) on the navigation bar (look at the screen below) in the "Friends" screen to add new friend. This will open a list of your contacts from your phone book. Now you can choose people you want invite to Yoke. When a person is selected, the gray circle on the right of each choosen field will turn yellow with a check marker (you can always uncheck people by clicking again on the field). Then you can click on the "Invite" button on the bottom of the screen.
Contacts in your phone book, who have installed yoke messenger will have a little Yoke monster next to the check marker and will be sent a message from within the app at no extra cost. Contacts you wish to invite, who have not downloaded yoke app, will be sent an SMS to install the app.
You can also choose to send and accept invitations automatically by switching the "ON" option from the Yoke settings screen.
No, Yoke Messenger allows you to chat only with the contacts that you've accepted to become your friends. This ensures that both parties want to chat. Contacts in your phone book who have downloaded Yoke Messenger, but are not on your friends list are unable to see your profile picture or your status. They only see your last "seen" time, provided you have not chosen to hide it.
You can start chatting by simply tapping on a friends name from the Friends screen.
Go to the Friends screen, choose and hold thumb over the field with the friend you want to delete until a dialog window with a list show up. Then simply choose "Remove from friends". A dialog window will pop up, requesting confirmation. To finish deleting your friend, click on "Yes".
Yoke messenger allows you to individualize the settings of each friend. You can access these settings by holding thumb over a friend field in the Friends screen, and choose "Edit contact" in the pop up dialog. There you can customize friend's avatar, his/her name or other options used for notifications.
Yoke messenger's activity tab keeps you updated on your friend's status updates. A badge on top of the activity tab means that one or more of your friends has changed their status or their profile picture. Badges also appear when a contact in your phonebook has installed Yoke messenger.
When you send a message, the time next to the message sent is blue: meaning your message has been sent.
Once your message has been delivered (i.e: the recipient of the message has opened Yoke app, or the app is still running in the background) the color will change to orange. When the time is in green, that means your message has been read.
By tapping on the 'i' icon in chat's message (next to the hour field, in the right upper corner), a pop up screen will appear as shown in the picture below.
You can send a picture, or share your location simply by choosing proper option in the chat menu ("Send photo", "Send location", etc.).
For more options you need to click on the attachment button (with clip icon) in the right upper corner of the chat screen. Then you can choose all available attachments for Yoke from the pop up window.
Users can easily create a group chat from the Chats screen.
Click on the button in the right upper corner of the Chats screen (icon with speech bubbles and a little plus sign). Then choose the people you want to chat with from list of your friends, and when choosen, a yellow indicator with check marker will apear in the right upper corner of the field. You can ucheck them the same way. For group chat, choose two or more friends from the list and click on "Start chat" button at the bottom of the screen.
You can then choose a title for the group chat, and edit the list of participants. To start the group chat simply press Start.
By clicking on any of your existing group chats and then clicking in the menu on the "Info". It'll show the "Chat information" screen. Swipe using your finger to the right and you will see the list of chat participants. If you are a chat owner, you can add new participants by clicking on the button (with a plus icon) in the right upper corner of this screen. It'll show a screen with a list of friends you that don't participate in the group chat. Select the people you want to add and click the "Add" button in the bottom of the screen.
To see the list of current participants of the group chat, go to that chat screen and click on "Show chat participants" in the menu.
Open the group chat you wish to remove yourself from, and then choose "Info" from the menu. It'll open the Chat information screen. Then click on "Leave chat" in the menu. This will open a confirmation dialog. Confirm that you want to leave the chat by clicking the "Yes" button.
Setting a global title to your group chat means that the name or title you have chosen will be shown to all participants of that group chat.
Yes, it's similar to creating a group chat. Click on the button in right upper corner of the "Chats' screen. In the newly appeared screen, choose participants of broadcast from the list, then accept by clicking on the "Start chat" button. This action will take you to another screen. To create a broadcast chat click on the field "Broadcast message" at the middle of the screen (a yellow indicator will show on the right side of the field). Finally click on the Start button to begin the chat.
Open the chat screen where you want to edit or delete a message that you already sent.
Select the message you want to edit or delete by scrolling over the list of messages. After you have chosen a message, you can edit or delete it by holding thumb over the filed until a dialog window pops up. From this dialog you can choose "Correct and send" (only your messages) or "Delete locally".
You can delete your account by choosing "Settings" in the menu (available from Dashboard). It will take you to the Settings screen, where you need to choose "Delete account" from the list. Then just confirm "Yes".
If you changed your phone number, you will first need to delete your existing Yoke account, and then re register using your new number in order to update Yoke messenger.
Yes, from Yoke Settings screen (available from the menu in the "Dashboard"), you can click on push notifications, and choose to show full message preview, only sender's name, only update badge or turn push notifications off entirely.
You can protect access from others to Yoke app by choosing Turn on/off access password in Yoke Settings screen.
All messages and pictures sent via Yoke messenger are encrypted and message content is deleted from Yoke servers as soon as message delivery is confirmed.
